Big Girl Room

Can I start by saying “GO STEELERS!” I (hannah) had to finish watching the game, by broadcasting to Dale, hiding in another room, what was happening. He gets a little nervous watching games like these. The injured player at the end kind of sucked some of the glory out of the game, BUT PITTSBURGHS GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!

We are going into our third week of no diapers for Lindy! I don’t quite know what the definition of “potty trained” is…we seem to have really good days and then a day of just accidents, and then a few more perfect days and then accidents. I think that is normal? It has been really nice to not put her in diapers but on the other hand, she hasn’t quite nailed the “other” type of training and I’d rather her be in diapers for that than her big girl underwear, but she will get it! I am happy to say we will be out of diapers for almost 2 months before baby #2 arrives which was my goal. My baby girl is growing up!

Another big change this weekend, we moved Lindy into her new room and she LOVES it so far. Oddly enough, the thing that she likes the most in her room is the big carpet. The rest of the house is wood floors, so I think she likes to play on the carpet in her room. It is definitely too big of a room for just one little girl, but no use wasting a bedroom if we have one for her. I splurged on one thing, curtains for the room. I was also trying to find a cheap way to decorate her walls, so I bought some decorative mirrors and glued ribbon around the edges. I think that was a craft project my mother did with us as kids. Daddy picked out a touch lamp which Lindy gets a kick out of.

We’re going to give her a few weeks to settle into her bedroom and then start preparing the nursery. All the junk we took out of the other room to stick Lindy in, is now in the nursery. I need to start getting it ready so I can take a look at the boy clothing and understand what we have. I definitely feel a little more prepared this go round than last. I might even have the bag packed for the hospital prior to the baby coming.

Just met with my doctors again this week, we are on a every other week schedule. Everything seems to be going well, no high blood pressure and the baby is “average” size -ideal for a diabetic mother. Almost 32 weeks in. Baby is due March 20th. He is weighing in at 3lbs right now.

Lindy’s Second Birthday

Today was a special day -Lindy’s second birthday! It started out early with mommy and daddy waking her up to the birthday song, followed by cheerios and toast and and orange (the usual) and then to church. We came home to finish the last minute cleaning before our birthday guests arrived. We decided to invite the close friends of Lindy’s -the kids she sees on a weekly basis. That ended up being 10 kids. WOW.

Before the guests arrived we did put Lindy down for a nap to prepare for the long, eventful afternoon. We have actually been potty training this past week, we are on day #5. I put her chair in her bedroom in the event she wakes up from her nap having to go. I went in to check on her and she had pulled her potty chair into bed with her and was fast asleep.

At 2:00 the guests arrived and we played duck duck goose and then go fish. A fun game I remember playing as a kid. I had just as much fun buying the little prizes at the dollar store than the kids did at fishing!

We then ate strawberry cupcakes and vanilla ice cream.

Then we opened up the presents. Our friends are so generous. Dale and I talked afterwards that we both debated giving Lindy the present from us because by the time she got through all the other gifts, we didn’t think she needed more!!

What a fun day! I hope she felt special and had a fun time with all her playmates.
