I haven’t even had a chance to write of our Thanksgiving road trip to my sister Liz and her husband Kavan’s house in Chicago. We celebreated with the Yee family this year -complete with a turkey, spring rolls, turkey day football, dog cousin Marley, and dim sum. For pictures, you’ll have to visit her gallery, I can’t seem to figure out how to get the pictures out of her gallery onto my computer.
We put up our Christmas tree this past weekend. We’ve wanted to go out to a farm and cut one down but decided against it this year for 2 reasons. There was NO snow on the ground, which I think makes the whole experience less fun, and secondly, Lindy won’t remember, so we’ll save it for next year.
We had 5 Christmas parties this week -a fun week to look forward to. Started on Monday with a Church staff party of about 10 people -very relaxed setting in someone’s home. It was nice to get to know some of our church aquaintances better. Wednesday that week, I had my work department party. This year, instead of doing an elephant exchange and wasting money on silly gifts, we bought gifts for local kids that live in children’s homes. They joined us for cookies and games and gifts. I’m proud to say my gift of walkie talkies, a telescope, and glow in the dark stars was a hit. The adults then headed to a restaurant for food and beverages. Thursday and Friday, Saltworks hosted their annual Christmas cookie party -it was fun but not as attended as in years past. The biggest part of that event was that Dale and his co-worker Becki FINALLY finished her Christmas CD and debuted it at the event. It turned out beautifully. Lastly, on Sunday, we had Breakfast with Santa, the annual event that American Eagle puts on for associates. over 600 people showed up. Lindy woke up out of sorts and I debated taking her and didn’t want her me to miss out, so I bundled her up and met daddy on the way from church. Great food, Lindy sat on santa’s lap, got a fun gift, and we headed back home. You can tell in one of the pictures below how she is feeling.
As I hung our stockings, I couldn’t find Lindy’s and so I assumed I had just not gotten one for her last year. We talked about “Daddy’s sock, Mommy’s sock” and then Lindy immediately sat down on the floor, took her shoe off, and handed me her sock “Lindy’s sock.” It was adorable.
Dave came over this weekend with a machine he had rented and he and Dale dug a trench from our house to our garage and then they laid cable for electricity to our garage. ha. Wasn’t on the plan for the weekend, but now we’ll have electricity! Always good to have Dave over -we miss seeing him around.
I painted Lindy’s nails the other day -we were bored. She is good at sitting still for a few minutes at least while they dry. Picture below is of her blowing on them.
