And We’re Back!

So, I feel somewhat guilty that I haven’t posted in over a month! Anybody notice? ha.

Life has been crazy busy this past month. Where to begin? I auditioned for a musical and coincidentally got cast into the show! My first show since college -a little nervous about the commitment but am having a BLAST right now with the cast and it doesn’t take too much time away from Dale and Lindy. The musical is “Urinetown.” yes, urine as in pee. A silly show about rich people that own the toilets in the town. I am enjoying singing and dancing again. Best of all, the director is Dale’s co-worker Becki -who is extremely talented and she makes me laugh every time she says something.

The past month, we have been working to finish the attic for the arrival of Rich and Michelle and their children. They arrive NEXT Sunday and we are happy to say the attic is ALMOST DONE. Dave came over again today and installed the toilet and sink; and yes, it was that simple for him. I was amazed at how fast he made it all work. Dale has been coming home at nights, watching Lindy while I rehearse and then going up to the attic and putting in 2-3 hours at night up there. He is a hard worker and I am proud of what he has accomplished up there.

This week and last was Saltworks’ Summer Studio with the kids. The theme this year -Myth Adventures. Dale is teaching the History of Theatre to the children and they all seem to be learning quite a bit. Lindy and I went to watch the show on Friday during my early out at work. I LOVE my early outs. We get to leave at 12 noon on Fridays during the summer.

“Lindy just brightened up the whole room and was such a joy.” words from the church nursery worker this morning. We walk upstairs and another person stops us and says “Lindy was so happy the whole time this morning.” She is such a sweet, happy girl. Albeit, her temper tantrums DO occur and frequently. She is almost 18 months -I miss my baby! Her hair is filling in with curls, she is singing songs, feeding herself, drinking out of a cup, loves to play in the dirt, waves at all airplanes flying by, has a bump or bruise on her body at any point in time, throws tantrums, gives kisses, eats almost anything. What a joy to see her grow.

Well, that is the update for the week, I must retire to bed as I have 28 people starting TOMORROW! I will be doing their orientation from 9am until 5pm -looking forward to entertaining them!

Happy Mother’s Day

I woke up to a few gifts all nicely wrapped and numbered on the couch. torture to look at them and not touch -even at 26 years old. Lindy and I met daddy at church -he had already gone to church to play bass in the band. The worship leader had asked him to play since they were short a few bassists. We are on the list now of bass players but due to all the other items we are involved in, we can only commit to playing every 6 weeks. Dale is a hot commodity and we have to make the other items we have committed to come first. Dale and Lindy both got me a few gifts. Dale bought me some chocolate donuts (my favorite), a home depot gift card to buy some plants, a giftcard for Outback Steakhouse for dinner tonight, Lindy bought her self a dress for her dedication next weekend, and Dale bought me an MP3 player! I felt very special all day and keep re-reading the letters they wrote to me.

Well, Lindy had her first cast on for 3 days and then pulled it off. We had to put a full arm cast on -as long as it is healed nicely -we’ll get it off on Friday this week -JUST in time for her dedication at church.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned this in past blogs but I just joined a rowing team. In Pittsburgh we have a pretty impressive rowing club and they train corporate teams through the summer. AE put together 3 teams and we just started a few weeks ago. I LOVE it and haven’t even gotten out onto the water yet. I think this will be a good way for me to excerise and not get board. We meet on Wednesday evenings and we workout on the rowing machines adn then put our boats out onto the water. I believe we’ll actually board a boat next week. The rowing technic is really really awkward if you’ve never done it before. It goes against anything you’ve ever done in a row boat. I had a pretty hard time understanding the timing and when you use your back and when you use your legs and when to keep everything straight. wow. Hopefully this week will be better. I’ll get pictures up sometime.

Dale and I saw each other for 1 hour between Monday and Saturday. He picked up a 2 week theatre job and I’m always in bed when he comes home at midnight and I’m up at 6 before he gets up. It was a pretty sad week. Luckily, we coordinated a middle school scavenger hunt and I got to see him for a few hours on Saturday during the hunt. From there he went to practice bass with the worship group and then off to rehearsal for his show. Lindy and I did plant some grass where we had pulled a shrub out of the yard and we also had one of our friends and her 4 kids over for lunch.

My oldest sister Liz graduated this weekend with her masters. Very proud of her. I believe she is first generation graduate student. Congrats Liz! I hope you go all the way to your PHD!
