This Week with Lindy

After many weeks of procrastination and an ankle injury, I have resumed work on the attic. The drywall is FINISHED. Hannah and I are ready to begin taping. It’s nice that the noisy work is over for a while. We’ll have a week or so of taping and painting before the trim work begins.

Lindy has grown two more teeth and a sin nature. She’s beginning to exercise her will more. I am convinced that one of the nanny’s kids taught her how to throw a tantrum; either that or she learned it at church; I sure didn’t teach her. Hannah firmly believes it is innate but I disagree. Someone taught her how to throw her head back, how to make her body stiff, how to lay on the floor like a wounded soldier and cry.

In other news, she is learning to help. She can kind of put away her toys if prompted. She can empty a dryer of all its clothes in about 2 minutes but the greatest help she has done so far is retrieving a lost easter egg from under her crib.

Brunch with the Bunny

This weekend, Lindy and I visited the easter bunny. AE holds a “brunch with the bunny” event so we got all dressed up and headed to the event. Sadly, daddy had to work so I took lots of pictures of Lindy.

We had a tradition growing up that we all got new Easter outfits to wear to church. I think that was a tradition for a lot of people I know. Was it for you? Anyways, I had fun getting Lindy ready in her little dress. We went to the thrift store and found a pink sweater for a dollar and white shoes for a dollar. Nice deal.

We arrived at the hotel and there had to have been 250 people in the banquet hall. We had a nice breakfast together and then went and saw the easter bunny. Lindy could have cared less that she was sitting on a big furry animals lap. Makes me think of how ironic it is that society had to come up with their own “mascot” on these “Christian” holidays.

We had an enjoyable Saturday morning -even though we missed being with daddy. We at least got more than one wear out of the dress as she will be wearing it next Sunday to church.

I took some fun videos of her hunting for eggs and tossing the bean bags. I could have sat there all day and watched her but the other little kiddos wanted to play.

Dale had a “play in a day” festival this weekend. The kids form groups and work all day creating their own play from scratch and then present it to family and friends at the end of the day. I got to see the last 15 minutes of Dale’s show -it was set in the 1930′s -how appropriate. I enjoy being a part of the Saltworks Family.

TVLand

Well, it has been 2 weeks since we rid ourselves of the tv in the living room. Funny thing is we rarely watched tv -maybe 3 hours a week, and yet I do feel some sort of void. I realized that even when I did have the tv on -it was on as background noise here and there. That first night I kept turning around to turn on the tv -I did it like 6 times!

We have always felt, even before Lindy, that we didn’t want a tv presence in the house while are kids were growing up. Both of us grew up that way and we turned out okay (some of you might say otherwise).

It is refreshing -I’m glad we can spend those 3 hours browsing the internet. :)
