Trip to Chicago

Some of you might have known that my brother-in-law, Kavan planned a surprise 30th birthday party for my sister Liz this past weekend and I decided to fly in and surprise her!

We find out online that the flight is delayed 30 minutes so we leave a little bit later from the house. I get to the airport and I can’t check-in. After inquiring, the ladies said the flight is NOW on time. Grrrr. They can’t put a bag tag on my bag so they place a carbon copy document around a handle. I RUN down the terminal, of course it is always the LAST terminal too, and low and behold, everyone is still sitting in there seat waiting to board. We sit there for AN HOUR before we board.

I get to Chicago and my luggage never shows up. I attribute it to the carbon copy piece of paper they put on my bag. I knew the minute they put it on there it wasn’t going to stay on there. After meeting up wtih my sister April who flew in from North Carolina, we jumped on the el to meet one of Kavan’s friends who would be driving us to the party. We surprised Liz and had an enjoyable weekend hanging out together and celebrating her life. I love my sisters and am so glad that we have such a special bond.

It was my first weekend away from Lindy -it took 3 babysitters to cover for me. Dale was asked to work at church on Saturday night and Sunday morning for the services and since he is the ONLY back up, we decided there really wasn’t an option. I came home to a clean house and Dale and Lindy were in one piece.

Lindy has made dramatic improvements in walking -she has officialy stopped walking like a “monster” and is now walking like a little girl -carrying things in her hands and standing in the middle of the room without assistance. We are proud.

Sweet Sweet Relief

The February show is over and the taxes are done! Yay! Two things off our list and I get to see my husband more now that he is not at rehearsal in the evenings.

School House Rock Live Jr. opened and closed this weekend -an adorable musical. Anyone remember watching school house rock? It was before my time. Dale technically directed the show; lights, sound, and the set.

We just finished the taxes tonight. Sweet Sweet child credit. I’m glad God thought of the child credit.

Saturday was fairly warm so we bundled up in the brown coat and took some pictures outside. Lindy wasn’t too excited about the snow.

We had a couple friends over for lunch today after church. The most we’ve entertained in our new home, there was eight of us around the table. I found out that I have enough plates, one fork missing, 3 adult glasses missing and a tablecloth that is not large enough to cover the table when we add 3 leaves. ha. It was great company and food, so what else matters?

Busy week ahead, I have 5 new hires this week, so I gotta take care of each of them tomorrow. I have been doing 2 people’s jobs now for a while, I’m getting tired. We JUST hired somebody who I get to train on my “other” job. I am VERY excited about passing it all off!!!

Recovering From a Virus Again

Lindy got sick again this week. A cough and I’m only assuming a sore throat from the way she is talking -very hoarse. Dale and I are getting better at not taking her to the doctor for every sickness. We realize they give us their “opinion” and send us home. Those $10 opinions are adding up. And now with all the new studies showing infant over-the-counter medications are basically worthless, we are going to fight this with patience and prayer.

She is eating a lot of jello and yogurt -must feel good on her throat.

I snuck into her room during her nap today. She looks so long in these pictures -I think she is only in the 25th percentile in heighth. You can see her snuggling with her 2 stuffed animals. Crocodile and Bear. We trade off between those two and Bunny.

We are firm believers in stability and schedules for children. Albeit we are not the best examples of it, we are trying. One of our routines is putting Lindy down for bedtime. We all traipse upstairs at 8am, put the jammies on and then to daddy’s lap for a song and a book proceeded by prayer time and then lights out. Last nights book was “Julius the Baby of the world.” If you haven’t read the books by Kevin Henkes and Laura Hamilton, you should add them to your collection -they are adorable. Gifts from The Copus Family.

Dog Park Date

We have gotten into a routine of taking Indiana to the dog park about once a week. Typically on Saturday or Sunday. Those of us who live in the city need a place to take our dogs so that they can run free. We took the dog to church with us (he stayed in the car) to head to the park afterwards.

Today the 5 acres of land was PURE mud. Indiana and his friends LOVED it. I’m glad we took daddy with us because I kept sinking in the mud with Lindy and had a hard time controlling the dog.

Needless to say, after church, lunch and the dog park -everyone was tired!
