Lindy Tricks

Happy Birthday Aunt April! Wish we lived close to throw you a party.

Lindy is getting so big. Can’t believe she is almost 4 months old. What is she up to these days? As Dale would say “What tricks can she do?” Lindy can hold things now, she notices her hands and toes, she still hates laying on her stomache, she likes to stare at the computer screen and tv (we’ll have to get rid of the tv before she starts to remotely understand House, Simpsons, Heroes or American Idol). She is cooing and has sort of a giggle, she has almost eliminated her pacifier usage, and she has outgrown her bathtub.

Dale has been amazing as he comes home from work and then proceeds to work on projects around the house. Today we pulled the trellis down from the side of the house to paint it. We had two different kinds of ivy crawling up it. I wish I knew what they were. We hacked them down anyways. I figure ivy is hardy right? We decided it is cheaper to paint the thing than to go buy one for $200. Dale has also primed and caulked the front porch ceiling. A coat of paint and he’ll be done with that project.

Tomorrow we are having Karen (the second nanny) and her family over for lunch. I need to clean house and go grocery shopping.

Dale is at church tonight working the sound for a big youth event. I wish I could have gone but it was an all day thing and a loud rock band was playing that night. Don’t think Lindy is ready for that -yet. Makes me wonder if we’ll ever go back to Cornerstone. Yes, yes, I think we will.

Busy Weekend

It started off with Dale DJ-ing a dance party at a church on Friday night. The church invited the community to come out and learn “wedding” dances. They taught the electric slide, cakewalk, alley cat, etc. etc. There was probably 50 people there. Dale and I did a swing dance demonstration. It had been a while since we had danced! It had been a while since I exercised! Lindy took it all in -very wide-eyed. We brought some ear plugs just in case the music was too loud. She was a real trooper.

Saturday, we got to sleep in and then started working on house projects. We have to do 6 painting projects by the end of May in order to receive the last part of our loan. Dale started scraping the front porch ceiling. Lindy and I worked on putting the wooden stakes back into the front of our lawn to hold the landscaping up. It was a beautiful 70 degree day and it was nice to work on our own lawn. I’m sure the novelty of a lawn will get old, but we are enjoying it now.

We bought 3 raspberry bushes and planted them in the backyard. Don’t know anything about them, but I think it’ll be a year before we actually see fruit. Dale grew up with raspberry bushes in Alaska, so at least he knows how to take care of them.

Saturday night we packed up the car and headed up North to camp for the night. Lindy’s first camping trip! We arrived about 8:00 and had just enough light to cook dinner and set-up camp. Lindy pretty much ate and slept the whole time. We went to bed at 10 and she woke up at 4 ready to eat. She woke up again at 6:30 to eat, so I fed her and then we packed up and went home. It got a little cold in the middle of the night -probably 35 degrees. Lindy did real good but we woke up in the morning and her hands were frozen. We felt AWFUL! They are a little chapped this evening but I don’t think we did long term damage.

We went to the 11:30 service and had this CRAZY idea to invite 3 couples over for lunch. Our house was a nightmare and I had no food. I guess it was a good lesson that community is not about having it all together! They all stopped at the store to bring over food and Dale and I feverishly cleaned house -they arrived JUST in time. We had a lovely afternoon -complete with grilled hamburgers, a rock concert in the basement, and happy well-fed children.

Rough Morning

I cried as I walked upstairs to wake Lindy up this morning. She was so snuggly and warm. She snuggled right up under my chin and squeaked a little. I tried to smell her as I carried her down the stairs. My nose is stuffed up, I couldn’t smell a thing. I didn’t want to let go of her and put her in the car seat. I smothered her face in kisses. She gave mea smile as I dropped her off with Jan.

New parent Adventure

So. What would you do if your child vomits up what they ate an hour ago and then proceeds to vomit bile every five minutes for an hour in and out of sleep?

Then what would you do if the next hour she lays comotose in your arms, not making one sound and not holding her head up or gripping your hands? Just staring up at the ceiling? After they fall asleep for 30 minutes they wake up perfectly fine…

You call your pediatrician and they make you go to the emergency room.

You can probably guess how Lindy behaved at the hospital. She put on her charm. Absolutly a perfect little baby.

So you might be wondering what happened…

Lindy drank an obscene amount of milk at Jan’s house yesterday -a whole extra bottle. Therefore Jan was short a bottle. I told her to use the emergency formula. We’ve only used it once before.

Lindy did not stomache the forumula well (probably because she drank so much of it without us easing her into it). I didn’t need a doctor to tell me she was forumla intolerable but it was reassuring to know the medical reason why she was so comotose. Basically her body slowed down after the stressful barfing incident. Lower heart rate, lower blood pressure -she literally shut down to recoup.

I KNEW that if we called the pediatrician they’d make us go to the hospital. An expensive trip for them to tell us “formula intolerance.”

Work Sick

Well, I made it in to work today. Still not feeling better but at least I don’t have a fever again. The doctor gave me some nose spray stuff. I typically don’t go to the doctor and just ride the illness out myself. The ONE time I go, we are there for 3 hours and the medicine doesn’t work. tee hee. I feel bad taking off more work when I JUST got back!

Dale was VERY productive last night. We have a running “to do” list and he got 4 things done last night. 1. Put that last 2 kitchen tiles down 2. Painted the bathroom ceiling 3. Caulked the shower 4. Hung a mirror for me. He was on a roll. I love my handy husband.
